Pinstriping
TRUE “BY HAND” PINSTRIPING
Everyone wants to own something totally unique and extremely specific to themselves. Automobiles are only unique in design from other manufactures. When you purchase your automobile either new or old, you are stuck with what features the vehicle came with.
Pinstriping is a way to further the design and make it truly unique to you.
Historically, pinstriping was used to decorate and enhance automobiles, motorcycles, and accessories with straight lines and basic shapes. It was the Hotrodders and the Kustom Car Scene that brought pinstriping to a whole new level. Pinstriping was now vibrant and out front; the “Icing on the Cake” for people who wanted their “rolling Art” to be truly unique to them.
Legends like Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, Dean “The Kid” Jefferies, Dennis “Gibb” Gibbish, and Ken Howard aka “Von Dutch” took pinstripe design to a whole new level. They opened the craft up to true artists and innovators who continue to evolve the art form.
I feel that there are two types of pinstripers today. those who view the craft as only beholden to the “golden Age” of pinstriping “Long live the 1950’s and 1960’s!!!”…. and then there are those who tweak, innovate, and just plain “bastardize” the craft. That’s where I fall into place.
